Tales From The Grid is a surreal thought experiment about AI, algorithms, technology
…and you thought this was all going to be about LLM
Voiceover: “They said the speed of sound was the barrier. They were wrong.”
(Cut to: A dimly lit British laboratory. Men in lab coats smoking cigarettes. Tension is high.)
Lead Engineer: “The glass must withstand a four-pound projectile at Mach 1. The Americans have the gun. We have the target.”
(Cut to: An intern running through a rainy parking lot, clutching a plastic bag from Tesco.)
Intern: “I got the bird, sir! It’s a roaster!”
(Cut to: The Cannon. A 40 foot long, massive metal tube humming with compressed air. It looks like a weapon of war.)
American Liaison (gruff, eating a ham sandwich): “You boys sure you’re calibrated? This thing doesn’t miss.”
British Engineer: “Fire the specimen.”
(Silence. The camera zooms in on the ‘Fire’ button. A sweaty finger presses it.)
(The sound of a cannon blast—THUMP.)
(Slow motion: A rock-hard, frozen solid poultry projectile exiting the barrel. It screams through the air. It doesn’t splatter. It impacts the windshield like a meteorite.)
(Explosion of glass. The pilot’s chair is obliterated. Feathers drift down in the silence.)
British Engineer (whispering): “Dear God. It went through the back wall.”
(Cut to black.)
TITLE CARD:
BIRDSTRIKE
Based on a true lack of common sense.
Tagline: “I am become Death, the destroyer of Windshields.”
The Climax Scene (The Fax)
The equivalent of the atomic bomb test scene isn’t an explosion; it’s the arrival of the fax from the Americans.
The team is huddled around the machine. They have spent weeks calculating trajectory, air density, and glass viscosity. They think the physics of the universe has broken.
The paper slowly churns out.
Engineer: “It’s the data. They found the variable.”
He reads it. He takes off his glasses. He looks at the intern.
Engineer: “Thaw… the chicken.”
(Credits roll over footage of a microwave spinning slowly.)
